The
Plot:
Deceit, hardship, and revenge pretty much describes The Count of
Monte Cristo. The movie, which takes place in the Napoleon era,
shows the struggles of a man, Edmund Dantes ( James Caviezel), who
gets wrongfully persecuted and jailed. The story goes on with Dantes
(who later in the film changes his name to Tazzara and then to Monte
Cristo) triumphing with his suicidal escape and his well planned
scheme to gain vindication for the injustice that he endured.
My
2 Cents:
The storyline
,with the moral dilemma and all that other crap, is typical. However,
the film does provide viewers with in dept emotional turmoil that
one faces after getting screwed over by close friends. Oh yeah,
the costumes and setting weren't too bad either. Would I recommend
it? Probably. But don't expect to see a lot of originality. The
film, as previously stated, has a "Been there and done that"
plot.
